چکیده

Dynamic rate adaptation for uplink data transmission in a cellular multidimensional multicode (MDMC) direct-sequence code-division multiple-access packet data network is modeled and analyzed in this paper. An analytical framework is developed to evaluate the performances of radio link level dynamic rate adaptation schemes under multipath fading and log-normal shadowing. The radio link level throughput under optimal dynamic rate adaptation (having exponential computational complexity) and different heuristic-based suboptimal rate adaptation schemes can be assessed under the presented analytical framework. The performance of MDMC signaling is compared with that of the single-code variable spreading factor (VSF) signaling. To this end, based on an equilibrium point analysis of the system in steady-state, a base station-assisted and mobile-controlled dynamic rate adaptation scheme is presented.

Blind channel estimation in multi-rate multicarrier DS-CDMA systems

Multi-rate multicarrier DS-CDMA is a potentially attractive multiple access method for future broadband wireless multimedia networks that must support integrated voice/data traffic. This paper proposes a subspace based channel estimation scheme for multi-rate multicarrier DS-CDMA, which is applicable to both multicode and variable spreading factor systems. The performances of the proposed schem...

Throughput performance of HARQ using multicode DS-CDMA with MMSE turbo equalization

Abstract In the next generation wireless communication systems, high-speed packet services will be in great demand, and hence error control technique is indispensable. Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) is a well-known important error controlling technique. Joint FDE and inter-chip interference (ICI) cancellation based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can achieve frequency ...

Joint Frequency-domain Equalization and Antenna Diversity Combining for Orthogonal Multicode DS-CDMA Signal Transmissions in A Frequency-selective Fading Channel

Orthogonal multicode direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) has a flexibility in offering various data rate services. However, in a frequency-selective fading channel, the bit error rate (BER) performance is severely degraded since othogonality among spreading codes is partially lost. In this paper, we apply frequency-domain equalization and antenna diversity combining, used in...
